Two Japanese kanji · 日本語

The name — a Japanese word

In Japanese, 独歩 means to walk alone — to go one's own way. Not isolation. Self-reliance: moving forward under your own power, one deliberate step at a time.

The Japanese idiom 独立独歩 — dokuritsu doppo — means to stand on your own feet and walk your own path. That is who we build for.

The philosophy

The one-person company does the work of many. The software should too.

A solo operator can't babysit unreliable tools or wire together a sprawl of them. Doppo is a light, trustworthy kernel that creates, calls, and gates capabilities on your behalf — and a self-improving loop that turns your judgment into private, reusable capability. Rare work stays flexible; daily work hardens into fast, deterministic tools you can trust unattended.

Not a notification and not a dashboard — a dated page, printed once, that says what ran, what it was allowed to touch, what the gate stopped, what is still waiting on you, and what the night cost. Every line on it is a record of something that happened. Nothing on it is written to fill the space.

Ordinary nights, names changed. Your own edition is printed on your Mac and stays there — this is the shape of the page, not anybody's work.

What it looks like

A window that opens on the situation, not on a menu.

The Console has one home screen and it is a sentence: what is waiting on you, what is running, what is next. Underneath, in the same order on the Mac and in your pocket — the Board, the vault, your conversations, the library of capabilities, and everything the gate has stopped.

Drawn from the app's own stylesheet, with the names changed — this is the shape of the screen, not anybody's work. The 4px of vermilion beside Board is the whole of what the Console spends to say where you are; the seal is the one filled thing on the page, because it is the one thing that cannot be taken back.

The operator's turn is paper and sits to the right; the agent answers in the display serif with nothing drawn around it, and the machine's record is a ledger rail in the margin. The slip at the bottom is not the agent's claim about itself — it is the repository's own checks, run by the Console after the agent stopped, and the stamp is what they returned.

A paired device can read the Board, read the vault, carry the conversation, and answer the gate. It cannot approve what its own turn asked for — the gate would be answering to itself.

What it asks of you

It stops and asks. You answer with a press you cannot make by accident.

An agent that can act needs a gate it cannot talk its way through. When a run reaches something that matters, it parks and asks — on your Mac and on your phone. Refusing is one click, because refusing is safe. Approving is a hold of three-quarters of a second, because it is not. And when the agent says it is done, the Console does not take its word: it runs your checks itself and stamps what it found.

hold to approve

A specimen, and the seal works: press and hold it. A click does nothing, and so does letting go early. The real one sits in the Console and in the phone app, where it is the only thing on the screen allowed to be this colour.

A hold, not a clickThree-quarters of a second, every time, with no setting that shortens it. For anyone who cannot hold, a two-step confirm waits out the same interval.
Its own checks, its own stampOnly a check the Console ran itself earns PROVEN. What the agent says about its own work is set in type, not stamped.
By voice, read back firstSay “approve” and the phone reads the sign-off aloud. Only a separate “confirm” approves — and “refuse” works at any moment.

Trustworthy

Every capability is verified before it's trusted and quarantined the moment it drifts. Side-effecting actions pass an approval gate, and approving is a deliberate act — a held press, or by voice a read-back and a spoken confirm. Credentials only ever under your own click.

A compile-ladder turns judgment you make once into a fast, deterministic capability. Your daily work gets cheaper and more reliable the more you do it.
